The General Store has served as the heartbeat of Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort for countless locals and visitors from around the world. “The G-Store” serves up hot coffee daily, Monday through Friday, starting at 6 a.m., along with delicious breakfast and lunch just a short walk from the resort’s Tennis and Pickleball Center, the Robert Trent Jones Clubhouse and the beach.
The General Store first opened in 1979. Through the years, it became a true, Hilton Head institution that has received numerous awards including “Hilton Head’s Best General Store” and “Hilton Head’s Best Fried Chicken.” The General Store's fried chicken and world-famous cinnamon rolls are indeed, officially, to die for.
In addition, the G-Store has earned its reputation for carrying one of the island’s best and most eclectic selections of long and short-sleeve t-shirts, hats and other Palmetto Dunes and Hilton Head Island swag. You can shop for the entire family and all your essentials as the G-Store carries everything you need for that memorable Hilton Head Island vacation.
And, of course, there is a large selection of ice cream and candy that will satisfy any sweet tooth. The General Store serves up icees and ice cream all summer long.
The General Store’s new general manager, Stephen Arnold, recently provided some amazing numbers produced by the General Store in the month of June 2022 alone:
Ice Cream and ICEEs served – 14,775
Chicken served – 2,550 Pounds
Coffee – 3,334 cups
Pounds of bulk candy sold from our self-serve candy aisle – 1,492
